Homer used his brilliance to creatively add the Greek deities in the story, affecting the outcome of the war.
It was the bet that Paris chose the most beautiful goddess that first brought Helen to him in the first place. It
was Poseidon that kept Odysseus from reaching Ithaca for a decade following the end of the Trojan War. It was Apollo,
the God of the Sun, that watched over the city of Troy.
